The following is a list of comprehensive list of accrediting agencies together with each agency’s scope of recognition that is recognized by Secretary of the Department of Education.  The Secretary recognizes accrediting agencies to ensure that these agencies are, for the purposes of the Higher Education Act of 1965 or for other Federal purposes, reliable authorities regarding the quality of education or training offered by the institutions or programs they accredit. The dates specified for each entry are the date of initial listing as a recognized agency, the date of the Secretary’s most recent grant of renewed recognition, and the date of the agency’s next scheduled review for renewal of recognition by the National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity.
